Arnaud teaches oyster-eating FRH070910

If you have not eaten oysters in Cancale with Arnaud you missed one of the greatest highlights of FRH.

He shows us two kinds - the 'deep-bodied' oyster cultivated right before our eyes on the tidal flats of Cancale, and the 'flat' oyster that is wild and harvested in deeper waters offshore.

In these photos he demonstrates opening, cutting away from the shell, applying lemon, and finally eating the oyster.

Lastly, some of the ladies on our tour enjoy this new pastime.

Surely one of the most memorable highlights of our visit to France!

Thank you Arnaud.

SPAM Alert

Bonjour everyone. I have had some spam problems early on this blog. This is why from now on, none of your messages or photos can be posted without my agreement. Do not reply to any mail requesting money or anything else. This is the type of spam that everyone could receive on each other Email address. Unfortunately this happens all the time, and my only advice is to have 2 Email addresses. 1 that you can use with any other site, while booking a service, a flight, a device online, or to subscribe to a website, a blog, or a newsletter of any sort. And another address that you should keep secret for all your relatives ands friends. Thanks and see you again soon hopefully. Unfortunaly Blogs are very easy target to spams. But please be sure that all the security I can possibly activate is already activated on my blog. Cheers. Arnaud

From Carol Santos :
Bonjour,
Here are the group pictures. To view more pictures from the trip go to http://www.sfphotosafari.com
Hit the Galleries tab, then travel, then Paris and the Heart of France. The full slide show takes about 20 minutes (can pic slow, medium or fast in the upper left corner). Pour yourself a glass of nice French wine, listen to some great music and remember the trip. Enjoy and the best to all! Carol

Greetings: This is a test run to see if I entered all of the email addresses correctly. Does anyone have Stuart and Margie's email address. If so, will you please forward it to me?
Hope every arrived home with no mishaps.

"Then and Now" - Part II from John & Jane Vanko

Notre Dame, Eiffel Tower, Statue of Liberty

Rainy weather in June 1966 kept me from taking very many pictures.

Excellent weather in July 2010, and a digital camera, meant hundreds of photo.

Here are the rest of our specialty guides

Above are Elizabeth at the Louvre, Barbara in Bourges, and our guide at Mont Saint Michel.  He spoke 7 languages!  I didn't catch his name, can anyone help?

See below for Elwood in Normandy, also our guide at Guedelon (sorry I didn't get his name, can anyone help?), and of course the incomparable Arnaud.

"Then and now" - Part I from John & Jane Vanko

Plenty of free time on Rick Steve's Tours to explore on your own.  Here are two photos taken from Hotel Lutetia, looking up Boulevard Raspail; from the 6th floor balcony above the then entrance during my last visit to Paris in 1966; and from ground level in front of the old entrance, in 2010.

P.S. - I misspelled Bourges below.  Excuse moi!
